In December Google confirmed content from social media properties now factor in its research algorithm. Google’s clear recognition that adoption now means blogs, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook have the ability to drive significant traffic to a website if the user’s network is large enough.

New Google search algorithm a win for business

We’ve noticed an interesting change in the Google search algorithms.

Client’s sites are now appearing in the first two results for a given brand search.

On investigation it looks like it’s a move to provide explorers with a more definitive result.  While previously the search engine would scan for any sites with a possible link to the text in the search field, the system now acts under the assumption the explorer is predominantly interested in the main website of said text, and is likely to provide links to this site in the first two search results.
